The first works in a series of naturally dyed silk textiles stretched across a steel frame evoking the visual of a traditional painting on stretched canvas. Each work is an interspecies collaboration and follows the guidelines of the Honorable Harvest, held by indigenous communities in T.E.K. (Traditional Ecological Knowledge). The collaboration between myself and my nonhuman kin present in the work create the abstract compositions. These actions are how I show respect to the Land, the source of all that sustains us. These acts of reciprocity and the gifts that result from them play an important role in the decision making and use of material in a work.
